The Along These Lines hat was inspired by a virtual class I attended during The Knitting Guild Association’s 2025 Next Level Conference, where I discovered the ladderback jacquard (LBJ) technique—a true game changer for stranded colorwork. Unlike traditional float-catching, LBJ neatly conceals long floats on the wrong side, creating a smooth, even fabric. This hat became the perfect canvas to explore the technique and highlight the interplay of color, resulting in a bold yet easy-to-wear design that’s as satisfying to knit as it is to show off.
