Sometimes, as a knitwear designer, inspiration strikes, and I can’t help but use that stitch pattern on everything I cast onto my needles. When I saw the mock honeycomb stitch, I knew it would be perfect on a cowl, a hat, a sweater…The possibilities were endless. I’m very proud of my Pass the Honey collection of patterns and thrilled to offer them to you for free through my collaboration with KnitPicks and their Brava Tweed line of yarn

Pass the Honey Cardigan

Inspired by the hexagonal wax cells built by honey bees to store their larvae, honey, and pollen. The mock honeycomb pattern creates strands of yarn running across the surface of the fabric, resulting in a beautiful waffle-y texture that is easy to create but appears delightfully intricate and tricky.

The honeycomb texture takes center stage throughout this mid-length, modified drop cardigan. Pass the Honey Cardigan is knit flat with no waist shaping. Faux seam stitches are worked in reverse Stockinette Stitch until fronts and back are separated for armhole shaping. Stitches are then picked up at the armhole to knit the sleeves in the round.

Pass the Honey Cowl

This cowl is a fun and functional neck warmer that will keep you snug and cozy all winter long. The cowl was inspired by the hexagonal wax cells built by honeybees. It’s knit seamlessly in the round. Pass the Honey Pullover

My latest sample design is a raglan version of the Pass the Honey cardigan. I wanted to carry forward the cozy, textured feel and playful charm of the original while reimagining it as a pullover. The raglan shaping adds a classic, comfortable fit, and the stitch details echo the same warm, honeyed vibe that made the cardigan so special. I'm currently in the process of grading the sample and hope to have it ready for testing later this year.
